Hostel building
Whilst I was soaking up the cold air in the room, Kaab has just been to the airport to pick up another girl from the UK.
Our dorm was full so she was going to be going upstairs to
the ‘new’ part of the hostel. I was like
ohhh can I come and have a look.
So I went up stairs, basically the new hostel is another
flat in the same building. It’s two
rooms, one with ensuite, a bathroom, kitchen and balcony. This is now a hostel. One room was ready with two bunks and it had
the balcony. The difference is also
there is a lot of light.
As Liv was going to be there only person up here I was like oh
oh can I change beds…Kaab was like of course.
Checked if that was ok with Liv and went and got my stuff.
After I’d settled in , Kaab was up working in the other
room, do you need any help in asked. As I
was in need of something to do but didn’t want to go outside lol. The rest of the afternoon was spent building
bunk beds for the other room and then shopping for things for the hostel. It was fun.
A really good way to spend an afternoon.
We also had an input on what Kaab bought. So the hostel will forever have a UK
stamp. It was literally make your own bed. A German guy moved in so we split the rooms
male and female. I think when the German
guy entered and saw two other guests working building beds and half a hostel he
was a little bit like what the f@#£...lol
We had a chat with Morten and he has hired a car (bingo) and
was taking about what he wanted to do tomorrow.
Which is go up to the old town which coincidentally was what I was thinking. But I would have to go by bus. Nearly 3hrs there, 3hrs back and as there
were only 2 buses you would have to spend 7hrs there …this was what was putting
me off. But going in the car obvs you have
more flexibility. Although he was not coming
back to Muscat I could get the bus back, but we would see some sights on the
way and not have to spend 7hrs in the blistering heat because we all know my opinion
on that! So a plan was made.
Earlier mum had asked me to go shopping and another Iranian
girl had asked if I would help her with her interview questions for the US
embassy. So questions first and shopping
second. The Iranian is applying to study
in the USA. This is the closest US
embassy to her. She had spent all day
revising her questions. Im not sure I
helped but I tried.
I met mum and Kaab and another girl from the dorm to go
shopping, handy that Kaab was coming so we could go in the car. Reducing the sweat factor. Or so we thought. Half way to the mall the car broke down, no
petrol. We were in the outside lane at a
main junction‼ The only option was to push the car into the nearside
street. Unlucky for Kaab he had 3 women
in the car. Can I help push the car..No‼!
It would not be seen as a good thing..so I was to steer the car. As it was automatic and no power we couldn’t get
it into drive.
I let Kaab try and I went to the back of the car and with the help of two random men
from the street. We got the car off the
road. Kaab went to get petrol and the
girls went to the mall. We drenched in
my own sweat..lol
Non eventful at the mall, just an opportunity to wander in
the supermarket and as we know this is one of my favourite hobbies in other
countries, so I was very happy!
We got back and mum invited us to eat with them a vegetarian
dish she had made in the day, I offered
my rice and naan from the night before.
We sat up stairs on the floor in the boys dorm and ate a type of Dahl. Delicious and well needed.
Today was an amazing day, being part of the hostel family, helping
them, eating with them it’s an experience I won’t forget and definitely one you
don’t find in a guide book.
Ohh before I finish I have to tell you about the shops we
went to. Basically Spanish cino shops on
speed. They had everything. From mini pet tortoise to bunk beds, mermaid
bumbags(which I very very nearly bought) to cookers. Amazing‼!
The new hostel doesn’t
have WiFi so before I hit the hay I did one last check on how Fer was doing. Basically he is swimming twice around Manhattan‼‼
GO FER‼‼
