Sunrise

After 2 and a half hours sleep I got up as agreed to see sunset over the beautiful old town of Khiva.  The morning was cool, the streets were empty and was a lovely feeling being inside the walls with just a handful of people.

We came in through the main gate and decided where we thought would be the  place to see this amazing sunrise.  We found our spot and waited... Waited for what you might ask, it was super cloudy, the walls and buildings were too high so there was no sunrise ๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜…๐Ÿ˜… however as I mentioned it was amazing to be inside the walls before most people.

We still had a good wander around took some fotos and I headed back to bed.  Managed to get some shut eye.  Headed for breakfast which consisted of the best fried eggs and the hardest stale bread.  You can't have everything!!

It was already pretty warm but decided on walking to the bazar.  Basically a market where you can buy anything and everything.  We found jackpot, as there were a few ladies selling salads..fresh, amazing smells and cheap.  So we treated ourselves to a cucumber/cabbage thing and what we guessed was carrot spaghetti.  The colour was brilliant orange.  It was super tasty.  We also haggled our way to buying a great big melon.

The great thing I have to tell you about the girls I met is that funnily enough we are all non meat eaters!! Out of the 7 people who watched the football 1 was a meat eater!! Super crazy!!

Anyhow treats bought we trundled back to the hostel.  As it was super warm we made the decision to hangout at the hostel and go back into the walls around 17h.  Again not really anyone there.  I am completely and utterly in awe of this place.  I have no idea why, but I just love it.

Taking more pictures of the same things but everything looks a little different with the different light,  and there was fun but like in the morning.

Camera roll full headed back for our lovely salad and some delicious take away pumpkin dumplings.  After a quick dinner it  was time to head back into the walls  sunset.  What a different story, people everywhere.  A mixture of local tourists, western tourists and families who live within the walls enjoying time outside.  Grandma's walking their grandchildren, kids playing football, groups of guys chatting.  A montรณn of activity.

We sat for a while soaking up the atmosphere, enjoying the entertainment.  Naturally we took some more pictures, happy with what we had headed back to the hostel.  I have to say the hostel was in a great location, 5 mins and we were in the old town.

I also wanted to see inside the walls at night, with all the buildings lit up.  So chilled for a bit then headed back in around 22h.  Man alive !! What a difference, it was like Disney land, puppet shows, performers, balloon sellers, golf buggy rides, miniature car rides for the kids!!! Totally different.  I couldn't quite believe it!!

Obviously I wasn't satisfied with that being my last time I would be in the walls so we agreed another 5am get up for the following morning.  So off I trotted to bed. Did I sleep of course not.... Because previously in the evening I had a call with Kerry Hayman about her coming out to join me in Santorini! Super excited! And after taking with some guys in the hostel about the expensiveness of Croatia they said you should go to Albania!!!

So plans changed, Kerry Hayman as a road trip buddy we is going to Albania!!! Do my brain was doing over time!!
