Border control
All packed and armed with free sweets we had for the bus. The journey time for the trip was supposed to be 1hr 50! First scam we had to pay to put our hand luggage in the hold. It's too big it weighs 10 kg blah blah blah ...bar steward took our money.
After reluctantly paying we took our seats..as we found out on the wrong side of the bus. The views were amazing but from the other side. It was very busy traffic wise. We arrived at the first border to leave Croatia , everyone off the bus . Two by two up to get your passport stamped.
Back on the bus then another queue of traffic to get into Montenegro. Our driver was obviously a little bit impatient as he decided to over take the line of traffic into oncoming traffic 🥴🥴I guess he skipped a few cars.
Everyone off the bus, passport stamped. What I don't understand is why the passport men stamp the same page as other countries, I have a whole passport that needs to be used!!! Anyhow stamp in hand waited for the bus. By now we are way over our 1h50mins.
I decided to try the roadside toilet, man alive some people. Literally opened the door and retched ...so no toilet for me!
Everyone back on the bus.. Quick check of Google with the free WiFi at the border apparently there was another 1h30 to go !!! Way way over our estimated time even with a crazy driver. Well what can you do..we cracked open a Somersby and kept ourselves entertained!
The drive into kotor really is lovely as you drive around the inlets of water, although we were sat on the wrong side of the bus lol!!!
Finally arrived at our destination, after passing a huge great big cruise liner docked right in the city! Speed 2 came to mind 🤣🤣
A 15 min walk and we were at our apartment. A little bit of luxury having a twin room since I have been in hostels for over 3 weeks!! The check-in guy was super stressed as there was no internet and all the guests were complaining. I'm like there was life before the internet...
We decided just to chill got out a couple of cans (obviously we bought a few cans of Somersby with us as you never know when you might come across cider again) and our greek olives and took out our map. Asked a few questions got a few tips. Randomly this weekend was carnival weekend so there were things going on.
Finished our cans got changed and headed for the beach. Pebbled beach full of people but enough space for us just to drop our towels and head into the water. I don't know what it is! Is it a sea , is it a lake ..I've no idea. It exits into the sea at some point ah hey I just don't know! But the water what ever was lovely. As expected went for a little bit of a swim ☺️
As we are also surrounded by high mountains we lose the sun quite early so we packed up and headed for the supermarket. It's fair to be said we really haven't been eating very well and we are not very good about paying to eat out ! But tonight we decided we needed something proper ! We got gnocchi and peas 🤣🤣🤣 not sure that qualifies but was good enough!!
Kezza was not feeling it (she's done super well with her sciatica, it really is pretty bad) so she decided to rest and I headed into the old town. It's very pretty, a mini version of Dubrovnik but surrounded by water and mountains. Very beautiful!
I wondered for a while then ended up in the main square for the carnival. First act was 4 incredibly dressed women, they looked like they had just stepped out of Rio! Then a Bolivian act very shinny and glittery and then a long break before a samba band. They were very good especially the cool guy playing a black violin.
I watched for a bit then headed back. First impressions very good..a beautiful place!
